Wool Rhino. Recycled felted wool is cut and shaped. Needle felted ears, tail tuft, lips and tongue are added. Eyes and tongue have additional beading.

I have been working on finding ways to be Earth Friendly as I learn new techniques. This wool was a sweater I purchased at a thrift store. It was adult sized 100% shetland wool. I brought it home and felted it by running it through the washing machine. Then I cut and hand-sewed to make an endangered species – the white rhino. You can see the original cabling from the sweater, which I think adds to the rhino skin texture as well. If I had it to do again, I would probably make the head smaller. My intention with the recycled wool/endangered species items is to donate part of the proceeds to International Wildlife.
